Long-Term Business Planning for Sunnyside Farm
Sunnyside Farm spans two adjacent properties totalling over 350 acres in Albemarle County, Virginia: A 215-acre former dairy farm in active restoration after years of invasive overgrowth and minimal cattle use, and A fully manicured 140-acre estate that serves as a scenic retreat featuring several historic and functional structures. This property is fully finished with 7 structures: 3 houses, 2 barns, a giant carriage, and a flower house. This project invites students to explore and develop sustainable, long-term business plans tailored to each property’s unique character and potential. Students may propose one integrated plan or alternative business concepts for each site. The goal is to identify revenue-generating ventures that are environmentally conscious, financially sustainable, and reflective of the land’s identity and opportunities. Students will visit the property, conduct research, explore industry models, and present strategic recommendations.
